Dehradun: Major forest fires raged across Uttarakhand on Saturday even as three National Disaster Response Force teams were deployed in Almora, Gauchar and Pauri and a state team in Nainital to extinguish the flames. Since February, 922 fires have been reported, killing seven people and blighting 1,890 hectares. Little or no winter rain only made matters worse. — TNS
