Piyush Goyal today took charge of the Railway Ministry as his predecessor Suresh Prabhu has been shifted to Commerce and Industry Ministry.

Goyal said, “Huge investments have been made in the Railways over the past three years and these will definitely lead to development. The Railways shall continue to embark on the roadmap set by the Prime Minister.” Goyal said his priority would be to aim for “better mobility, connectivity and service for the people of India”.

Extending best wishes to Goyal, Prabhu said the present government “gives lot of importance to the development of railway sector” as its growth “leads to nation’s progress”.
