Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki removed chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Haryana Commission for Women chairperson from their posts today.

As per a notification received from the Governor, commission chairperson Kamlesh Panchal and vice-chairperson Suman Dahiya stand removed from their posts with immediate effect, sources said.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had recommended to the Governor the removal of Panchal and Dahiya. The move came following complaints about the working of the commission and “controversial” statements by its members.

The government can remove other members of the commission at its own level, without going to the Governor. It is apparent the commission also stands dissolved.
