The IAS Officers’ Association of Bihar fumed over the arrest of Bihar Staff Service Commission (BSSC) chairman Sudhir Kumar in connection with the question paper leak in the Commission, while it demanded his immediate release and a CBI probe in the matter.

The association claimed, “Sudhir Kumar is one of the finest officers of the cadre and the association stands by the credentials of the officer. It will bear all legal and other expenses on his behalf and fight tooth and nail for Kumar’s cause.”

The BSSC chairman was arrested by a special investigation team (SIT) on Friday for his alleged link to paper leak in the recruitment of clerks by the commission.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had directed setting up of the SIT, which is led by Patna SSP Manu Maharaj.

Maharaj had claimed that the SIT had ample and concrete evidence against Sudhir Kumar.

A delegation of the association also met Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Nitish Kumar, apprised them of their concerns and sought his immediate release.

Sudhir Kumar was sent to judicial custody in Phulwari jail on Friday. Besides, his four close relatives were also arrested and sent to jail in connection with the paper leak case.
