Kharagpur, April 22

Nidhin N, a fourth-year aerospace engineering student at IIT-Kharagpur, was found hanging from the ceiling of his ground floor room, the police said today.

As Nidhin did not come out of his room in the morning yesterday, his friends informed the matter to the authorities. The police were intimated and they broke open the door and found him hanging. A suicide note was recovered.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem even as the institute authorities declined to comment. West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh said a probe was on and they would also examine the suicide note.

Nidhin is the third IIT-Kharagpur student to commit suicide this year. On January 16 when Lokesh Meena from Rajasthan jumped on the tracks at Jakpur station. On March 30, body of Sana Sree Raj from Andhra Pradesh was found on tracks, barely 500 metres from the IIT campus. — Agencies
