Kharagpur (WB): Selling recyclable garbage is now as easy as ordering a pizza over phone, thanks to a social entrepreneurial initiative of a group of IITians. A group of IIT Kharagpur students are successfully running a “Kabaadi on Call” service allowing people to fix an appointment for a garbage collecting truck. “We have hired labourers to collect recyclable waste from residential quarters. They go with a digital weighing machine and a rate card for different types of waste,” says PhD student Abhimanyu Kar and his friends, who have formed a social entrepreneurial venture, “GainWaste”. — PTI
85 pc young Brits harassed in public places
London: An alarming 85 per cent of young women in Britain have been sexually harassed in public places with very few people stepping in to intervene, says a survey. The YouGov survey, commissioned by the End Violence Against Women (EVAW) coalition, found that 85 per cent of women between 18 and 24 had been sexually harassed, with half of this age group said they had experienced unwanted sexual touching. Only 11 per cent reported that someone else had intervened on their behalf while being inappropriately touched. — PTI
SRK offers job to fan via Twitter
Mumbai: Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is gearing up for the release of his movie “Fan”, has offered a job to a real-life fan for creating his own version of the film’s trailer. The fan-made trailer was shared on Twitter by Shivam Jemini, who posted it on Sunday. “Giving all my love to my inspiration on my birthday. A ‘Fan’ trailer by a fan. Hope you see it, Shah Rukh Khan,” Jemini wrote along with a link to his version of the trailer on YouTube. The 50-year-old actor lauded the recreation of the “Fan” trailer publicly on Twitter. — IANS
