Taking a dig at the Janata pariwar coming together at the Samajwadi Party silver jubilee celebrations today, BJP president Amit Shah said leaders joining hands did not add up to anything unless people decided to join hands with them.

Addressing a rally before flagging off the BJP’s ‘Parivartana Yatra’ in Saharanpur, Shah described it as the foundation laying day of the next BJP government in UP.

Significantly, BJP once again chose Saharanpur to initiate its UP election campaign as the district shares its boundaries with Uttarakhand where elections are also due next year.

Shah promised to clear the arrears of the cane growers of the region before the next crop is ready for crushing, if the BJP is elected to power in the state.

He also promised that if the BJP came to power there would be no migration. “We will make those people migrate from here who are responsible for making you migrate”, he said, attempting to polarise votes in vulnerable western UP.

He lashed out at the SP asking Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to explain how the Ansari brothers, led by mafia don-turned- politician Mukhtar Ansari, were allowed to align with the SP.

Running down BSP supremo Mayawati’s claim of ensuring law and order, Shah alleged atrocities against the Dalits had risen during her rule by 30 per cent.
