Kalbelia dancer''s son, 26 others arrested at rave party

A Finnish woman and the son of famous Kalbelia dancer, Gulabo, were among 27 persons arrested by the city police following a raid at a rave party at a farmhouse of the famous dancer near Sikar road.

Consumable quantity of marijuana, hashish and other drugs were also seized from the farmhouse situated in an isolated area nearly 10 kms from Sikar highway, police said, adding, the drugs were consumed in cigarettes and pipes.

"Following a tip-off, the raid was conducted around 4 am today on the farm house owned by Kalbeliya dancer Gulabo near Needad village. Her son and a woman from Finland are among 27 persons who have been arrested," Additional DCP Karan Sharma told PTI.

Sharma said the party was organised and coordinated by Gulabo's son Bhawani, who sent invitations to all the people.

Those who have been arrested are in aged between 20-25 years, Sharma said, adding, the Finnish woman is 22-years-old.

Twenty-six persons have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and a separate legal process has been initiated for the foreign national, who has not been arrested under NDPS Act, the officer said.

Medical examination of those arrested is being conducted and they will be produced at a local court later in the day, Sharma said.

Investigation is underway to probe the role of Gulabo and whether she was aware of this event or not. Strict action would be taken if she is found guilty, he said, adding, providing a place for illegal parties is also an offense.

The dancer was unavailable for comment. —PTI
