Kanpur bride decamps with jewellery on wedding night

KANPUR: A 26-year-old woman in Sarojini Nagar here allegedly made off with jewellery worth nearly Rs 2.5 lakh from her husband’s house on the wedding night, police said.

Kanpur, February 25

A 26-year-old woman in Sarojini Nagar here allegedly made off with jewellery worth nearly Rs 2.5 lakh from her husband’s house on the wedding night, police said on Saturday.

Shyambabu had married the woman from Devariya on February 23. The next morning when the family members went to the bride’s room to wake her up, they found her missing. A briefcase and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh were also missing, a police official said.

The woman’s mobile was switched off and her parents were clueless about her whereabouts.

“Shyambabu has filed a complaint at Najirabad police station and the police are investigating the matter,” Inspector Mukesh Kumar said. PTI
