Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called off his nine-day sit-in protest at Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s office on Tuesday in a series of developments that indicated that the logjam had been resolved.

Reports said officers were attending meetings at the Delhi Secretariat.

The development comes after Baijal’s office wrote to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia asking Kejriwal to urgently meet bureaucrats to discuss their issues. Baijal’s letter came a day after Sisodia wrote to Lt Governor Baijal asking him to arrange a meeting with Delhi bureaucrats to end the impasse that began with the alleged assault of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in February this year.

Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues had holding a sit-in at the L-G office demanding a direction to officers to end their "strike" and have the doorstep ration delivery scheme approved.

Bureaucrats have denied being on strike.

Sisodia wrote to Baijal on Monday requesting him to call a meeting between AAP ministers and the bureaucrats to resolve the issue. The chief minister had also assured the officers on Sunday that he would ensure their safety and security.

The officers had welcomed Kejriwal's assurance about their safety, saying they were open to formal discussions with the chief minister on the matter. TNS/Agencies
