Man held at IGI airport with Rs 24 lakh in foreign currency

NEW DELHI: The customs department on Thursday seized foreign currency equivalent to Rs 24,89,375 from a Dubai-bound passenger at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.



New Delhi, February 16

The customs department on Thursday seized foreign currency equivalent to Rs 24,89,375 from a Dubai-bound passenger at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

The officers intercepted the passenger on February 14 on the basis of specific intelligence, said Dr Amandeep Singh, the additional commissioner of customs.

The recovered currency was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, and the accused was arrested under Section 104 of the said act.

Further investigation is under way. ANI
