OBC leader and Congress candidate Alpesh Thakor on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disliked Gujarati food and was fond of Taiwanese mushrooms which cost Rs 80,000 apiece.

Thakor also alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party's Gujarat leaders siphoned off Rs 1,500 crore meant for Banaskantha flood victims.

At an election rally, the Radhanpur candidate said: "Though the Prime Minister claims to be a common man, he is not so. He might claim his love for Gujarat but he dislikes Gujarati food.

"So he eats imported mushrooms from Taiwan. Each mushroom costs Rs 80,000."  Thakor claimed that the complexion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned fair because he eats mushrooms imported from Taiwan.

“Someone told me that you can't eat what Modi ji eats, because it's not a food for the poor,” Thakor said.

“One mushroom costs Rs 80,000, and he eats five mushrooms a day. That is why I wonder how he turned so fair. He was as dark as me,” he added. Thakor also alleged that the same person told him that Prime Minister Modi has been eating those mushrooms since he became the chief minister of Gujarat, in 2001.

“The Prime Minister who eats mushrooms worth Rs 1.20 crore in a month, you can imagine how many crores of money his workers must be eating up,” Thakor added.

Thakor also accused the BJP of siphoning off the flood victims' entitled government benefits.

"The Rs 1,500 crore which was meant for the Banaskantha flood victims has not reached the beneficiaries but has found their way to the pockets of the Gujarat BJP leaders and workers." Thakor formed a front from the OBC community, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities and called it the OSS Ekta Manch. Thereafter he joined hands with the Congress. — Agencies
