The Opposition, including the Congress and the CPM, today flayed the Modi government for its alleged interference in the 2008 Malegaon blast probe and putting pressure on the NIA to drop charges against Pragya Thakur.
The Congress alleged “direct interference” of the PMO in the “sudden reversal” of NIA’s stand in the case. It demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into it while apprehending that the Samjhauta Express blast case might also meet the same fate.
The CPM Politburo said: “The investigation into the Malegaon terror attack led to linking of Hindutva terror organisations’ role in other terror incidents. Under the current BJP government, all these investigations will also be compromised.”
