Pollution: SC tells Haryana, UP to crack down on builders

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today directed Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to penalise builders allowing dust pollution at construction sites in the National Capital Region (NCR) in violation of laws and its orders.



New Delhi: The Supreme Court today directed Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to penalise builders allowing dust pollution at construction sites in the National Capital Region (NCR) in violation of laws and its orders. A Bench comprising Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice R Banumathi said the authorities should take the help of volunteers to conduct period checks in areas witnessing large-scale construction activities if there was any shortage of manpower in the departments concerned. Any officer found wanting on this aspect would be suspended, it warned.
