Jaipur: A court in Dholpur on Thursday sentenced sitting BSP legislator BL Kushwaha and one more person, a resident of UP, to life imprisonment for the murder of Dholpur resident Naresh Kushwaha in 2012.
Legislator Kushwaha was arrested by the state's CID branch after he surrendered before the Rajasthan Police on October 13, 2014. He has been in judicial custody ever since. He took oath as MLA amid high drama and was not permitted to vote in Rajya Sabha elections by the Rajasthan High Court. Before his arrest, the MLA had told party workers that he had been “implicated” in the case by the BJP government. — OC
