Rashtrapati Bhavan, IAF to observe Earth Hour

NEW DELHI: In support of action against climate change, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Air Force will switch off all non-essential lights for one hour tomorrow to mark the Earth Hour.

New Delhi, March 27
In support of action against climate change, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Air Force will switch off all non-essential lights for one hour tomorrow to mark the Earth Hour.
All non-essential lights in the president house and the estate will be switched off for an hour on Saturday at 8.30 p.m. Residents at the estate were advised to turn off lights and electrical gadgets in their houses for an hour.
The ninth edition of the annual event would be observed by the IAF from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm tomorrow under which all non-essential lights at the headquarters and stations will be switched off. The IAF has also urged all personnel and family to participate in this global event.
WWF is the parent organisation of the Earth Hour and started it with teams and partners in Australia back in 2007 as a lights-off event in Sydney.
Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide. — IANS/PTI
