27 officers get Army ‘aviation wings’
Nashik: Twenty-seven officers passed out from the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) here on Saturday. The aviators were given the coveted ‘aviation wings’ on the successful completion of their 18-week training. Captain Gagandeep Singh was awarded the ‘Silver Cheetah’ trophy. D Litt for gymnast Dipa Karmakar
Agartala: Ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar would be awarded a D Litt degree by the National Institute of Technology, Agartala, at its 10th convocation on November 11, NIT director AK Roy said. Two distinguished academicians — IIT Guwahati Director Dr Goutam Ghosh and Jadavpur University professor Dr Biswajit Ghosh — would also be honoured with DSc degrees. Karmakar, the first woman gymnast in the country to qualify for the Olympics, finished fourth in the 2016 Rio Olympics. PTI
