Rs 27 lakh new currency notes seized from rail passenger at Ajmer

JAIPUR: In a surprise check, Government Railway Police cops at Ajmer recovered a bag filled with new currency notes worth Rs 27 lakh from a passenger travelling from Alwar to Gujarat in Ashram Express train in the wee hours of Tuesday.

In a surprise check, Government Railway Police cops at Ajmer recovered a bag filled with new currency notes worth Rs 27 lakh from a passenger travelling from Alwar to Gujarat in Ashram Express train in the wee hours of Tuesday. 

Alpesh Patel (32), carrying the new currency notes in denomination of Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 100, was intercepted by cops on duty and arrested later on when he could not disclose the owner of the cash and purpose of his movement, Sampatraj, SHO GRP Ajmer said.

The accused belongs to Palasar town in Patan of Gujarat and was arrested under Section 102 of the CrPC. The accused would be produced before the Railway Magistrate tomorrow.
