Pushing campaign trail of the saffron party for the Delhi elections, former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu today appealed to the electorates to exercise their franchise in favour of the BJP if they wanted development of the National Capital and women’s security.

Voters in Delhi have an option of availing a “buy-one-get-one-free” offer if they ensure that Kiran Bedi becomes the Chief Minister as there is already Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the government at the Centre, Sidhu said.

“You voted for Modi as PM. Now vote for Bedi as Chief Minister. This is a ‘buy-one-get-one-free’ offer,” cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu said while addressing a rally at Mahendra Park in Adarsh Nagar constituency.

He also took a jibe at the short-lived AAP government in Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal, saying such things happen when a “monkey is elected in place of a lion”.

Sidhu also raised doubts over the financial viability of AAP’s electoral promises about slashing tariffs for water and power and providing free Wi-Fi.

“Kejriwal has said he would make Wi-Fi and water free. Where will the money come from? Will Kejriwal give the money when he can’t pay his own rent?” he said.

“This electoral contest is a fight between dharm and adharm (good and evil),” he added. Terming the National Capital the “heartbeat” of the nation, he said Delhi’s progress was crucial for India’s development.

“Dilli desh ki dhadkan hai. Dilli ko theek kar do, desh theek ho jayega,” he said.
