BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday accused investigation agencies of inaction despite being provided information about 21 undisclosed foreign bank accounts that he claimed belonged to former finance minister P Chidambaram's son Karthi and his companies.
Swamy, a former union minister, called a press conference in which he also accused the Finance Ministry under senior BJP leader Arun Jatley of not pursuing the case seriously.
Swamy claimed that there was no “political sanction” to act against Karthi Chidmabaram even after three summons from the Enforcement Directorate.
Chidambaran quickly dismissed the allegations as "outrageous" and claimed that all his "assets are duly reflected in IT filings".
"Some outrageous claims have been made about me. My filings are up to date n completely in compliance with regulatory/statutory requirements," Karthi said in a tweet.
"My family's n my assets are duly reflected in our IT filings. My companies have made all declarations as required by statutory requirements," he added.
Swamy also criticised former finance minister P Chidambaram claiming there were irregularities in the clearances given to the Aircel-Maxis deal during his tenure. — PTI
