Guwahati, May 3
Situation is stated to be tense but under control in violence-hit frontier monastery town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh today even as the district administration formed a peace committee with the Deputy Commissioner as the chairman.
Additional DC L Gambo said the peace panel held its first meeting today while the Army, police and paramilitary forces continued to keep strict vigil. He said Section 144 of the CrPC was in force and the Army was asked to help the administration when tension ran high after yesterday’s police firing on protesters, killing and injuring many.
