BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari and his supporters were prevented by the police on Sunday from staging a protest in front of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's residence here.

The rebel MLA’s attempt to start “ekatam satyagraha” against the chief minister’s twin residence dispute was foiled when the police did not allow him and his supporters into the Civil Lines area and dispersed them in Jalupura MLA region.

The Sanganer MLA and his supporters were dispersed by the police under CrPc Section 129, minutes after the BJP leader left his residence to stage a 'satyagraha' outside Raje's bungalow.

Tiwari who marched from his house in Shyam Nagar area with his hundreds of supporters affiliated to Deendayal Vahini was not allowed to move further due to the prohibitory orders promulgated a day ago, SHO Sodala Nem Singh said.

On media reports that Tiwari was arrested, Jaipur Police Commissioner Sanjay Agarwal claimed no arrest was made though a group of people walking with the MLA were dispersed due to prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC.

Tiwari, who is facing BJP disciplinary action for his anti-party activities, had warned that he would hold an ‘
ekatam satyagraha’ if the chief minister does not vacate her present government bungalow, and move to the official residence.

Tiwari has been criticising Raje and the BJP leadership after show cause notices were served on him by the party's national discipline committee.

The notices were sent after the BJP MLA alleged that the Rajasthan unit of the saffron party had become a place for the "mafia and sycophants" while the dedicated, loyal and qualified people were being "sidelined".

He had also called Raje the "queen of indiscipline". — With PTI inputs
