The BJP and BSP today walked out of the UP Assembly as state minister Mohd Azam Khan made an indirect reference to PM Narendra Modi and BSP founder Kanshi Ram.
Replying to a question on the law and order, as Khan listed the steps taken by the government to control crime, BJP leader Suresh Khanna said in the Samajwadi regime even the police personnel were being attacked.
Responding, Khan said: “Yahan ke Badshah apni maa ko ghar par nahin rakhte magar dushman ki maa ke pair chhutey hain, Kashmiri shawl gift karte hain. Beti ke samman ki baat karte hain magar apni patni ko saath nahin rakhte (The king of the land does not keep his mother with himself but touches the feet of the mother of the enemy and gifts her a Kashmiri shawl. He talks of respecting daughters but does not stay with his wife.” Accusing the minister of trivialising the issue, the BJP staged a walkout. The minister did not stop at this he even reminded the BSP of its founder (Kanshi Ram) recommending building of toilets at the site of the demolished Babri Masjid. Protesting against Khan, the BSP also walked out.
