Will keep free WiFi promise: Kejriwal

As the AAP-led Delhi government completed its three years in power on Wednesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his future plans that include roads and drains in unauthorised colonies, building of 900 Mohalla Clinics, and funds for free WiFi.

Addressing an event here to mark the third anniversary of the AAP government, Kejriwal said his government was going to allot full budget to implement free WiFi in entire Delhi.

Attacking the Central government for playing “dirty politics” by stalling the development works in the city, he said he could prove wrongdoings by the Centre, if its files were made available to him.

He claimed a plenty of ‘noticeable work’ in health, education, water and electricity had been done in the past three years. He dubbed his government’s investment in health and education (12 per cent and 24 per cent of the total budget, respectively) — as the highest in the country.

“Our work in health and education has been historic. There has been a massive and unprecedented investment in the expansion of health and education sectors that any state in the country has made. This is the biggest ever. This is because we believe in people...,” said Kejriwal.

While the Delhi CM listed his government’s work and plans in various sectors, his deputy Manish Sisodia took questions over phone and Twitter during the programme at NDMC Convention Centre.

Talking about his government’s three-tier healthcare model, Kejriwal noted that due to improved quality of healthcare services in the government-run hospitals the footfall in OPDs had risen by 33 per cent. 

As per the AAP government, it is increasing bed capacity of hospitals by 50 per cent and in a few months there would be more than 900 mohalla clinics in the city.

Kejriwal also went on to list out achievements in the education sector with 20 new schools and classrooms and plans to create 38 new schools in the next one year as compared to 33 schools during the Congress regime.
