NIRF ranking for institutes from region

Institutes from the region figured in the NIRF Rankings 2018 relesed by Union Minister of HRD, Government of India Prakash Javedekar earlier this week.



Institutes from the region figured in the NIRF Rankings 2018 relesed by Union Minister of HRD, Government of India Prakash Javedekar earlier this week. The ranking focuses on five key parameters of Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception. 

Among the engineering institutes the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, has been ranked 20th. The institute has been placed 33rd in the university category and 50th in Overall category in the biggest and most comprehensive NIRF  Rankings of 2018. Earlier, in NIRF-2017 Rankings, TIET had secured 26th rank in the Engineering Institutions category, 46th rank in the University category and 75th in Overall category. Commenting on this speaking on this, Director, Dr Prakash Gopalan said, “A bright future awaits Thapar graduates as the university has embarked on a programme to modernise itself in all aspects.”

The second institute to figure prominently in the management rankings, is LPU Mittal School of Business (MSoB). It has been ranked among the Top 40 B-Schools in India, rubbing shoulders with IIM Ahmedabad and IIT New Delhi. In Punjab region, LPU's Management department is ranked at the top. In the 'Outreach and Inclusivity' category, LPU has been ranked No 1 and LPU Pharmacy department has also been ranked 26th among the 286 participating institutions in India.


Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham ranked 8th best university 

Coimbatore-based Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has emerged as the the 8th best university in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2018 for Indian universities. Also it is the only private university to appear in the top 10 list that was released by the Minister of Human Resource Development Sh. Prakash Javadekar.

The university, which is only 15 years old, is accredited with 'A' grade by NAAC and also ranked high by international ranking agencies such as THE, QS, etc. The University which is managed by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math is currently spread across five campuses in three states — Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, with the university headquarters at Coimbatore. It also collaborates with top US institutions including Ivy League universities and top European universities for regular student exchange programmes and has emerged as one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in India.  — TNS
