MUKTSAR: After the two consecutive wins in 2007 and 2012, the family of former CM Harcharan Singh Brar lost its pocket borough to SAD candidate Kanwarjit Singh ‘Rozy Barkandi’.

After the two consecutive wins in 2007 and 2012, the family of former CM Harcharan Singh Brar lost its pocket borough to SAD candidate Kanwarjit Singh ‘Rozy Barkandi’. Rozy defeated Karan Kaur Brar, daughter-in-law of the former CM, by 7,980 votes.

Rozy, who had lost the election last time from Karan Kaur with 9,255 votes, was even facing party rebel-cum-former MLA Sukhdarshan Singh Mrar. Mrar got 28,204 votes. AAP nominee Jagdeep Singh ‘Kaka’ Brar received 33,201 votes. The former CM’s family, since 1977, has won this seat five times in nine elections. — TNS
