Khanna, January 9
Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Congress candidate from Khanna constituency, opened his elections office here today.
Kotli claimed that there was a Congress wave in the state. He recounted the “anti-people” policies of the Akali Dal-BJP government. He said the Congress would launch people-oriented schemes after coming to power.
After the opening of the office, Kotli and other leaders visited and appealed to the shopkeepers to vote for him. They claimed to work for the development of the area.
Gurmukh Singh Chahal, former president of the Khanna Municipal Council, party leaders Vikads Mehta, Ashok Tiwari, Satnam Singh Soni Rohno, and Harinder Singh Kanech were present.
BSP candidate also opens party office on GT Road
Shashi Vardhan, BSP candidate from Khanna, opened his election office on the GT Road in the presence of party workers and his supporters here on Monday. He said the major political parties had failed to solve the problems of the Khanna constituency. He said he would work for the all-round development of the area, if he won. He claimed that he was receiving overwhelming response from the area residents and was well aware about the problems being faced by them.He visited shopkeepers door to door and appealed to them to vote for him. Shashi Vardhan had joined the BSP a few days ago after deserting the Congress. Gurcharan Singh Channi, Ram Singh Gogi, Mahinder Singh, Didar Singh Ramgarh and other leaders of the BSP were present. —TNS
