Congress councillors have asked the Executive Officer of the Municipal Corporation here to carry out development works without discrimination. CLP leader in the MC Brahm Shankar Jimpa alleged that the earlier SAD-BJP government had neglected the shortcomings of the corporation and discriminated with Congress councillors.

During the meeting with the EO, the Congress councillors alleged that the past working of the BJP-led corporation during the SAD-BJP regime had been totally biased and except a few VIP wards of the ruling party, most of the wards of the Opposition had been ignored. They alleged that in a few wards, there had been massive development works amounting to crores of rupees but those of Opposition, didn’t see even basic works. They asked the EO to ensure that no discrimination was done. They also sought the list of the wards and the works done there so that those wards which had been neglected in the past could be developed to bring them on a par with other wards.

Jimpa, also the district president of the Congress, said, “There had been many shortcomings in the working of the corporation during the SAD-BJP government’s regime. The tendering process, incomplete works, low quality of construction works, water supply, sewerage, lifting of garbage, maintenance of dumps and several other issues were not given due attention by the SAD-BJP government for 10 years. Now, these all will be put on the right track.”
