Drug money used to fund polls: Phoolka

LUDHIANA: Senior advocate HS Phoolka has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that income from drug supply was used to fund elections for his government partners.

Ludhiana, December 17

Senior advocate HS Phoolka has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that income from drug supply was used to fund elections for his government partners. He has asked him to form a special investigation team (SIT) of officers from outside the Punjab Police to investigate allegations that schoolchildren are being used as drug peddlers.

Giving the reference of Modi’s recent speech, in which he mentioned the dismal situation regarding drugs in Punjab, he alleged, “Unfortunately, you mentioned that the drug money was being used by only the terrorists, while knowing it fully that it is also used for political purposes like funding the elections for your government in Punjab.” — TNS
