Amritsar, January 10

To strengthen its base in the Majha region, AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal will tour the 32-km stretch along the nine constituencies of the Gurdaspur and Amritsar border belt to reach out to the residents.

Party’s spokesperson and candidate from Majitha Himmat Singh Shergill said today a campaign named “Ghar Bachao Muhim” had been planned under which Kejriwal would personally interact with drug-affected masses of the border belt on January 14 and 15. He said the “Ghar Bachao Muhim” was aimed to encourage the people of Majha to stand united against the “corrupt politicians who have ruined numerous young lives by patronising drug trade in Punjab”.

Advocate Jaswinder Singh, former SGPC member, said this campaign was a call to all Punjabis to rise against the nefarious designs and greed of the corrupt politicians.

Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjer said, “The AAP has zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and corruption and people involved in these will be dealt with sternly after the formation of the AAP government in Punjab.”

Sources say it is AAP’s agenda to prepare grounds for its Lok Sabha candidate for the Amritsar bypoll. Jaswinder Singh, who joined the AAP recently, is the probable candidate for this seat. The party may announce it officially on January 16.

Jaswinder Singh said, “I am bound to stand with the party’s any decision unconditionally.”
