The Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) plans to start its legal cell soon. Party supremo Simarjeet Singh Bains said the cell would provide legal aid to the poor and needy.

“Lok Insaaf Party is already helping the poor and needy in handling their legal cases. The cell will only formalise what the party is already doing,” claimed a confidante of Bains.

In the system of justice in our country, it’s not unusual to find victims waiting endlessly for the dispensation of justice. The poor and financially weak individuals, particularly, are at the mercy of tardy legal procedures, said a lawyer associated with Bains.

Bains already has a group of lawyers working with him. This group, according to the supporters of Bains, takes up the cases of the financially downtrodden.

Meanwhile, Bains said his ‘men’ would continue to monitor the situation at the Ladowal toll plaza. “The commuters are being taken for a ride. They have to keep waiting for traffic to clear at the plaza. No one is bothered about the rights of commuters. Recently, the posters on commuters’ rights that we had put up at the toll plaza were torn,” said Bains. He said his party volunteers guide commuters at the toll plaza for a few hours in the evening daily.
