Rajya Sabha member Navjot Singh Sidhu is back in state politics after being included in the BJP’s core committee. However, his aide-turned-foe Anil Joshi has been left out.
It would be interesting to see the role he and his wife, CPS Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, would play, in the wake of their tussle with alliance partner SAD.
Sidhu had revolted against the SAD when certain pet projects that he had conceptualised for Amritsar were scuttled. His wife, Dr Sidhu, had even termed the alliance with SAD as ‘suicidal.’ She had declared not to contest elections if the BJP strikes an alliance with the SAD again. However, the saffron party had rehabilitated Sidhu with an RS seat amidst speculation on his switching over to the Aam Aadmi Party recently.

Choosing Sidhu for the core group could be seen as a rejuvenating factor keeping in view his popularity, oratorical skills and above all a clean image.
