TMC to contest Amritsar bypoll

AMRITSAR: The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has already announced five candidates for the Punjab Assembly polls, will also contest the Amritsar Lok Sabha byelection.

Amritsar, January 10

The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has already announced five candidates for the Punjab Assembly polls, will also contest the Amritsar Lok Sabha byelection. This was stated by party’s national vice-president and former Railway Minister Mukul Roy here today.

He said the party’s parliamentary board would soon announce the candidate, even as state TMC president Jagmeet Singh Brar is keen on fighting the byelection. Brar termed PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh a bhagora (runaway) MP. “Amarinder betrayed the residents of Amritsar by quitting as an MP to fulfil his political ambitions,” he said. — TNS
