Gidderbaha, January 13
A day after Indian Youth Congress president and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring filed his nomination papers here, the Returning Officer (RO) today issued him a show-cause notice for allegedly defying the model code of conduct for elections by taking along more number of people than the permissible limit while filing his nomination papers.
Warring has to file his reply by 9 am tomorrow following which the Election Commission will take action.
Notably, when Warring had filed his nomination papers yesterday, a number of people, including his wife, children and relatives, were present.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission, a candidate can’t take more than four persons along for filing nomination papers.
Talking to The Tribune, Anand Sagar Sharma, SDM-cum-RO, Gidderbaha, said, “We have served a show-cause notice to Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Warring asking him to give reply by tomorrow morning.” He added, “At the time of accepting the nominations, I had asked the people present in the room to go out.”
Meanwhile, Warring’s wife Amrita today filed the nominations as his covering candidate.
Raja Warring could not be contacted as he was busy holding some meetings.
