Q.I’m very fond of mathematics and would love to study this subject at a really good institution. What are my options? —kamal jain

A.Want to carve a career in mathematics and related areas after Class XII? While most of universities offer basic science/maths courses, there are some programmes that stand-out and are arguably the best in the country today. Here are some of the good ones. Admission to all is on the basis of an entrance exam. 

IITs

Courses: 

• 4-yr BS (Mathematics & Scientific Computing) at IIT Kanpur, 5 yr integrated MSc (Applied Maths) at IIT Roorkee, 5-yr integrated MSc (Mathematics & Computing) at IIT Kharagpur.

Part-time management courses

Q.After doing my BTech from BITs Pilani, I joined my father’s automation manufacturing business which has been growing at a steady pace. We have recently collaborated with a German firm. Since neither my father nor I possess a formal management qualification (I’ve been focusing on the technical aspects), we do feel hamstrung at times when it comes to decision-making regarding taking our business to the next level.
