Muktsar, September 23

Residents of Doda village near here today blocked the Muktsar-Bathinda highway alleging that ASI Veera Singh, incharge of Doda police post, last night misbehaved with them.

Raman Kumar of Doda alleged that he along with some others had last night gone to the police post to lodge a complaint related to some business dispute, where the ASI misbehaved and also thrashed one of them.

Refuting the allegations, Veera Singh said some people had come to lodge their complaint and one of them was drunk.

“When I asked them to undergo medical examination, they apologised by giving me in writing and now making it an issue,” said Veera Singh.

Meanwhile, SI Krishan Kumar, SHO, Kotbhai police station, assured the protesters of investigation, following which they lifted the dharna. Some Congressmen, including Jagdish Doda, present there accused the police of highhandedness.
