1 held for sheltering Hindu leader’s killers

The district police have arrested Daljit Singh of Guru Nanakpura locality of Amritsar for allegedly harbouring Saraj Singh Pintoo, the prime accused in the killing of Hindu Sangharsh Sena leader Vipin Sharma.

Besides Saraj, Shubham Singh and Dharminder Singh have also been named in the case. All of them are absconding.

Daljit is a cousin of Saraj Singh. Darshan Singh Mann, SSP, said Daljit had been arrested by the Khalra police from Bhandal village late last evening. He said a case under Sections 212 and 216 IPC had been registered. The SSP said Daljit Singh’s native village was Kalsian Khurd (Khalra), while he was residing at Guru Nanakpura in Amritsar.

He claimed that after killing Vipin, the accused had taken shelter at Daljit’s house in Guru Nanakpura. Later, they also visited his residence at Kalsian Khurd. Saraj owned agricultural land in the village and Daljit used to collect its lease money on his behalf, he added.
