Shiromani Akali Dal MP Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra today asked the Narendra Modi government to inform about the status and findings of the Special Investigation team (SIT) set up to prosecute the accused of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The MP raised matter during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha today
The Akali Dal is a partner in the NDA. Chandumajra, an MP from Anandpur Sahib, said those guilty of the riots have not been punished despite being identified by various enquiry commissions, including the Justice GT Nanavati Commission.
He also asked the government to inform about the status of the promised additional Rs 5 lakh to be given to riot victims. Almost 3,000 people had died in Delhi alone in the riots which occurred in the aftermath of Prime Minister Indira Gnadhi’s assassination.
