2 killed at unmanned rail crossing

TARN TARAN: Two persons, including a woman, died near Sangha village, 10 km from here, at an unmanned railway crossing today when their motorcycle was hit by a DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) train going from Tarn Taran to Goindwal Sahib.

Two persons, including a woman, died near Sangha village, 10 km from here, at an unmanned railway crossing today when their motorcycle was hit by a DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) train going from Tarn Taran to Goindwal Sahib.

The deceased have been identified as Bakhshish Singh (22) of Bharbhat Singhwala (Fazilka) and his aunt Bimla Bai of Gagg Kalan village (Ludhiana).

The victims were on their way to a religious place at Shekhfatta village.

Bakhshish Singh, who was steering the motorcycle, failed to see the approaching train. He was crushed on the spot while his aunt fell into the nearby canal. Divers have been called to the spot but they haven’t been able to find her body.

Two die in road mishaps

Abohar: Akashdeep Singh (22) of Panjawa Mandal village died when his motorcycle collided with a stray bull near Balluana village on the Abohar-Malout stretch. Sukhpreet Kaur (32) of Koyalkhera village, who was riding pillion, was grievously injured. In another mishap, Naginder Singh (24) of Chak 24FF village died and his friend Harkanwal Singh (23) sustained injuries as the car which Naginder was driving collided with a truck near Tatarsar village.
