2 rickshaw drivers run over by bus

AMRITSAR: Two rickshaw drivers were run over by a Punjab Roadway bus in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Two rickshaw drivers were run over by a Punjab Roadway bus in the wee hours on Wednesday. The deceased are yet to be identified.

The police have registered a case under Section 304-A of the IPC against the driver, who is absconding.

The bus was going from Delhi to Amritsar and the rickshaw drivers were sleeping on a road divider. When the bus was near Mallian village, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it climbed the divider and ran over the rickshaw drivers.

Joginder Singh, an eyewitness and sewadar of Gurudwara Chhevi Patshahi located on the GT Road near Mallian village, told the police that he was standing near the nearby reservoir when the bus (PB-02-BU-9750) climbed over the road divider and killed the sleeping rickshaw drivers.

The Jandiala Guru police said the bodies had been kept in mortuary for identification.

In another incident, a 14-year-old boy, Jashanpreet Singh, died when a tractor trailer hit him near Udonangal village on Tuesday evening. The police have booked driver of the tractor trailer Malkeet Singh, resident of Bagga village. He is yet to be arrested.
