Three SGPC employees and a sex worker were arrested from the serai of Takht Damdama Sahib gurdwara at Talwandi Sabo last night.
On a tip-off about immoral activities, Takht Damdama Sahib acting Jathedar Harpreet Singh conducted a check in a room of the serai. He found SGPC employees Dharminder Singh and Kuldeep Singh and Kar Sewa Bhooriwale sewadar Pargat Singh with a girl.
The police also arrested an alleged pimp, Bathinda resident Dharampal Singh, and Kuldeep Singh.
Barinder Singh, DSP, said a case had been registered under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of the IPC.
Soon after the incident, SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar suspended Dharminder, Kuldeep and serai incharge Sukhpal Singh.
Giani Harpreet Singh told The Tribune that he was tipped off by SGPC member Bhai Jagseer Singh Mangeana, who had stayed last night in the serai.
During an interrogation, Dharminder and Kuldeep admitted that they had paid Rs 6,000 for the sex worker, who is a resident of Bathinda.
