3 youths get life term for murder

ROPAR: District and Sessions Judge BS Sandhu here today awarded life imprisonment to three youths in a four-year-old case of murder, kidnapping and destroying evidence.

District and Sessions Judge BS Sandhu here today awarded life imprisonment to three youths in a four-year-old case of murder, kidnapping and destroying evidence.

The guilty have been identified as Vishal, Gursewak alias Rancho and Sandeep alias Neelu, all residents of Chamkaur Sahib.

Anmol Anand (21), a resident of Uchha Khera locality in Ropar town, had gone missing after he had left to attend a ‘jagran’ on September 19, 2013. Later, his family started receiving ransom calls from his mobile phone.

Following the complaint by the victim’s family, the police arrested the three accused on September 27, 2013.

The accused told the police that they had killed Anmol and had thrown his body in the Sirhind canal as a sacrifice. Vishal had close relations with the family members of the deceased.

Vishal, who claimed he had supernatural powers, had misled the family by trying to help them find the victim.
