Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh said here today that the Malerkotla desecration case was part of a conspiracy to destabilise the state, allegedly at the behest of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Talking to mediapersons during his ‘Halke Vich Captain’ programme at Bassi Pathana in the district, Amarinder said an atmosphere of instability and uncertainty ahead of the Assembly elections would suit Badal as he had lost the trust of the people. The former CM demanded a time-bound independent probe into the incident.
On Badal’s statement that the ‘Halke Vich Captain’ campaign was an imitation of the Sangat Darshan, Amarinder said the CM’s programme was selective as the people were screened and selected before being allowed in, but the Congress outreach event was open for all.
Addressing a gathering, Capt stated that on coming to power, he would ensure that all those found guilty of pushing the state’s youth into drugs spent the rest of their life in jail.
‘Akali leaders selling jobs’
Khamano: During the ‘Halke Vich Captain’ programme here, Capt alleged that Akali leaders were collecting Rs 15-50 lakh each from unemployed youths to provide them jobs.
