With the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport in Amritsar joining the list of airports with electronic-tourist visa facility for eligible countries, its authorities have made all necessary arrangements.

The Amritsar airport is among seven other airports which will have the facility now. Earlier, only nine airports were tagged as entry points to India with the e-tourist visa facility.

Talking to the Tribune, Airport Director Venkateshwar Rao said all infrastructural arrangements to accommodate the flow of passengers for the facility had been made at the airport complex.

He said officials of the engineering and operational wings had been asked to make arrangements for four counters, besides putting up signages for the convenience of these tourists.

He said immigration and other agencies had also put forth certain requirements, which had also been provided.

The Airport Director said as soon as tourists reach the arrival lounge without visa, they would be segregated from the rest of the passengers. They would then move to these four counters to obtain the electronic-tourist visa.

He said the deadline to provide all required infrastructure was June 30 and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had complied with it.
