Attack at toll plaza: Shiv Sena activists held

PATIALA: The Patiala police today arrested state Shiv Sena vice-president Harish Singla and activists for allegedly attacking toll plaza staff on Friday.

The Patiala police today arrested state Shiv Sena vice-president Harish Singla and activists for allegedly attacking toll plaza staff on Friday.

The police added non-bailable sections to the FIR, including Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) and Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class). Both the charges were added today, following the scrutiny of the CCTV footage at the toll plaza. Sources confirmed the police recorded the statements of Sukhwinder Singh, who was injured in the attack, and Kamaljit Singh, whose turban was tossed in the melee.

The police arrested Harish Singla, Akram, Shankar Bhardwaj, Harry Sharma and Ashu Malik, who were sent to judicial remand. — TNS
