Terming Congress leader Navjot Sidhu as an opportunist, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said he (Sidhu) had sold his self-esteem by negotiating a good deal with the Congress even as the SAD-BJP had given him more than what he deserved.

Badal was at Dharamkot town in Moga district today to address a public gathering of veteran Akali leader Jathedar Tota Singh.

Rejecting the so-called white paper released by Sidhu against his government, the CM claimed that it was merely a bundle of lies. “We have done tremendous development works in all sectors,” he said.

He advised Sidhu, “If you want to see development please visit the houses of poor people whom we have ensured food security under the atta-dal scheme or poor and marginal farmers whom we are giving free power for agriculture.”

The CM termed the Congress and AAP leaders as enemies of Punjab.

In a bid to emotionally garner support for SAD in this rural constituency, the Chief Minister recalled the memories of 1984 Operation Bluestar and said the Congress was responsible for the attack on the Golden Temple. He asked the people not to vote for the party that tried to “kill your religion”.
