Muktsar, December 6

Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who will be turning 90 on December 8, has invited all residents of his native village for his birthday. He has invited them for lunch and Sukhmani Sahib path at a stadium in the village.

“All villagers are getting invite for Badal sahib’s birthday celebrations. The stadium at a school run by the Badals is being decked up,” a resident of Badal village said.

Another villager said: “We used to go to wish him on his birthday at his mansion. But this is for the first time when we all have got invitation cards. Everyone is excited to see the celebrations.”

Notably, Badal had kept his birthday a low-key affair last year because of the sacrilege incidents. However, earlier he used to hold several cake-cutting ceremonies at Badal, Lambi and Gidderbaha. Besides, on his birthdays, he also visits some educational institutes and old-age home set up by his family.

Recently Badal had said he was much younger than people in their mid-50s. “Main taan aje vi tuhade naalo takkda hain. Dekh lo ji savere 8 vaje ton lagg jana hain loka de kamma ch, te raat tak karda rehnda haan. (I am fitter than you people. You see, I start doing public works from 8 am and continue it till late night)”.
