Bhagwant Mann seeks CBI probe

SANGRUR: The Aam Aadmi Party today demanded a CBI probe to determine the role of the state Agriculture Minister, Agriculture Department officials and owners of pesticide companies in the pesticide scam.

Sangrur, October 9

The Aam Aadmi Party today demanded a CBI probe to determine the role of the state Agriculture Minister, Agriculture Department officials and owners of pesticide companies in the pesticide scam.

MP Bhagwant Mann today alleged that such a multi-crore scam could not be possible without the connivance of the Agriculture Minister. He alleged pesticides costing about Rs 32 crore had been purchased by Agriculture Department without tenders. Besides, these pesticides had not been recommended by the Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, he said.

He said it was strange that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal had been issuing clean chit to Agriculture Minister Tota Singh without any inquiry. — TNS
