Tourists visiting the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post (JCP) for witnessing the Retreat ceremony now have an added attraction to look forward to. A script recorded by superstar Amitabh Bachchan will guide them about the BSF’s services in securing the country’s borders as well as the JCP’s history.

Thousands of spectators in the packed stadium were surprised when they heard the voice of legendary actor greeting them just before the Retreat ceremony.

The script was released today. Amitabh Bachchan lent his voice to the 10-minute auditory clipping describing the history of the ceremony at the check post and the BSF which was raised in December 1965.

The recordings are in both English and Hindi languages. MF Farooqui, DIG, BSF, Amritsar sector, is the brainchild behind the idea. Being a literary person himself, he scripted the brief history of the BSF and JCP.

“Initially we were susceptible whether Amitabh Bachchan would agree to our proposal or not. But the legendary actor not only took time for the recording but also did not charge anything from the BSF,” said Farooqui.

“We are thankful to Amitabh for his gesture. We all are fans of Big B. It is very encouraging to hear his powerful voice,” said a constable, Yogendra, who is also part of the Retreat ceremony team.

“We were surprised to hear Amitabh’s voice. We witnessed the proud moment of launching of Big B’s script at Indo-Pak border,” said Pallavi Sharma of Delhi.
