Abohar, January 16

BJP candidate Arun Narang filed his nomination papers for the Abohar constituency here today.

Earlier, Narang paid obeisance at a temple located just opposite his campaign office on the Gaushala road. It was followed by a roadshow in which dozens of vehicles sporting “niji vahan” (personal vehicle) stickers also participated. BJP former state president Prof Brij Lal Rinwa and other leaders stood by Narang in an open-roof vehicle. The cavalcade passed through main roads of the town.

Most of the SAD local and district leaders, who reportedly met liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda on January 4 in the Fazilka sub-jail and were also present when the Bhim Tank murder accused Dodas came here to file nomination papers last week, did not join the BJP road show. They had also skipped inauguration of the BJP poll office.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Atul Nagpal, who was accompanied by Delhi legislator Naresh Balyan, also filed his nomination papers today.
